According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has made significant progress since its inception seven years ago, bringing a total of $25 billion in direct investments to Pakistan.

Wang stated that projects completed under the CPEC had improved Pakistan’s infrastructure and electricity supply, provided jobs for people, and contributed to the increase of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Many projects have been started or finished under CPEC, a dynamic project of President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin during his regular briefing in Beijing.

Wang stated that CPEC had not only aided regional connectivity and prosperity, but had also supported growth in the two nations, citing Afghanistan as an example, which was importing food and other vital things through the Gwadar port.

In response to a question about third-party and other country participation in CPEC, he stated that the Chinese side would welcome interested countries to participate in the project and other BRI projects to help contribute to regional and global stability and prosperity.
