Islamabad: According to news reports, the Council of Common Interests (CCI) approved the country’s 7th Population and Housing Census on Thursday (January 13). The decision was made at the 49th CCI meeting, chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and attended by the four provinces’ Chief Ministers (CMs).
Reportedly, the Housing Census will be conducted prior to the Population Census. The upcoming census will be performed using cutting-edge technology and a Geographical Information System (GIS), and would follow international best practices. The conference also approved the formation of a Census Monitoring Committee to examine the real-time process and guarantee that census activities are conducted in a timely, transparent, and reliable manner.
All provincial chief secretaries, the chairman of NADRA, the chief commissioner of ICT, and other top officials will serve on the committee, which will be supervised by the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission.
