ISLAMABAD: To keep an eye on the progress of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a website and an app have been launched by The Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). It was revealed via sources on January 14 that this application was invented through a partnership with the Planning Commission.

Reports also revealed that Major General Amer Nadeem (Chairman of SUPARCO) along with Asad Umar (Minister of Planning and Development) were present at the launch event of this website and app. Asad Umar stated that such technological advances would be of great significance for the country as they can help identify and resolve developmental problems. According to sources, this app will aid the authorities in monitoring not just CPEC but other projects as well in the form of up-to-date high-resolution pictures.

While explaining how this app functions, the authorities revealed that it obtains its photographs and current information from the Pakistan Remote Sensing Satellite-1 (PRSS-1). This satellite was launched into space by China on July 9, 2018. This satellite is the first indigenously built sun-synchronous satellite in Pakistan’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
