Islamabad News: The CDA (Capital Development Authority) has approved several transformative projects, including a Multi-Million Rupee Initiatives, to enhance Islamabad’s infrastructure, aesthetics, and functionality. These initiatives, sanctioned during the 71st Development Working Party (DWP) meeting, aim to address critical urban needs and elevate the city’s global appeal.

One of the flagship projects involves upgrading and beautifying Constitution Avenue, a key artery housing iconic landmarks like Aiwan-e-Saddar, the Prime Minister’s Office, and Parliament House. With a budget of PKR 490.082 million, the project is expected to enhance the avenue’s functionality and visual appeal. Completion is targeted within four months.

In response to growing waste management challenges, the CDA has approved hiring a consultancy firm to design a modern municipal solid waste management system. This initiative aims to reduce pollution and align waste management practices with international environmental standards. The consultancy work is expected to conclude within four months, paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable Islamabad.

To boost the city’s profile as a global destination for business, diplomacy, and tourism, the CDA has green-lit a feasibility study for developing five-star hotels. Over the next 12 months, consultants will explore joint venture and profit-sharing models, aiming to expand Islamabad’s hospitality capacity.

Additionally, to modernize the city’s meat supply infrastructure, the CDA has approved plans for a state-of-the-art slaughterhouse in Humak. Spanning 15.75 acres, the facility will ensure hygienic and high-quality meat for residents. The project will also include a probability study to explore public-private partnership opportunities, with findings expected within a year.
