Gujrat: According to a news report published on 29 July, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has begun construction work on the 69-kilometre-long Kharian-Sambrial Motorway, an extension of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (M-11).

According to the information, the GT Road junction near Kharian is where the groundwork, estimated to cost PKR 42 billion, has begun. An NHA representative, whose identity was withheld, stated that the NHA had taken possession of the project land. Trees, bushes, and other obstructions are being removed from the suggested route. The earth filling work will be done in the second phase.
A 9-kilometer-long section of the four-lane link road will be built to connect the Main Motorway with GT Road near Bismillah Chowk in Kharian, whereas the Main Motorway is 60 kilometres long. The mentioned project will, according to the specifics, have five interchanges and a service area in the Gujrat district. It was stated that a kilometer-long bridge over the River Chenab would be constructed to connect Sialkot with Gujrat.

According to the official, the project is being created using a public-private collaboration and the built-operate-transfer (BOT) approach. Within two years, it should be finished. The expense of the construction will be covered by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
