Kalam: According to news reports, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mehmood Khan inaugurated development projects worth billions of rupees in the hilly area of Sawat on Saturday (May 28). Educational institutions, staff housing complexes, and the solarization of mosques and schools are among the initiatives.

During his one-day tour, CM Mehmood officially launched the following projects:
- PKR 2.8 billion Kalam’s Shahi Cricket Stadium
- Engineering University, Kalam Campus
- Solarization of schools and mosques.
- Government high schools in Qandil and Gornai
- 7 RCC bridges

Employees of the Kalam-Gabral Hydropower Project would be housed in a PKR 4 billion Staff Colony. He announced a PKR 1 billion project for Kalam, in addition to a PKR 36 billion allocation for a power plant, in addition to the ongoing projects. The government, according to Mehmood, would invest more money in the area’s tourism development, which is critical for local job generation. He indicated that before beginning any new project in the area, the administration will communicate with the community.
