Multan: Commissioner Multan Division Javed Akhtar Mahmood said that the documentation process for the allocation of 10 kanal land for the establishment of a historic museum at Water Works Road has started, news sources reported.

A letter in this regard has been sent to the provisional revenue department to get the land allocated.

Furthermore, he said that Multan is a culturally rich city and that the museum would preserve the 5000-year-old history of the city of saints. Commissioner Javed said that PKR 800 million have been earmarked under Annual Development Fund for the museum scheme near Fort Kuhna Qasim. He also added that South Punjab Secretariat is also being constructed in the city.

These initiatives, according to the commissioner, are part of the Multan uplift project which was launched by Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar for the development and rehabilitation of Multan city.

Moreover, the commissioner also visited three proposed site for shifting the district jail that includes Jaswant Singh, main Bahawalpur road near Shrine Peer Ismail Shah and Sher Shah Road.

The commissioner said that the new district jail will be built on 75-acre land and the existing site of the district jail will be converted into a recreational park.
