Lahore: According to news reported on January 12, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has proposed a draft on the latest regulations allowing ‘free height’ authorization to the property developers to promote business in Lahore by constructing multistory buildings. The draft suggests changes in the laws of the ‘area development project’.
Once implemented, developers will be able to build buildings up to 300 feet tall in certain areas of Lahore. The Civil Aviation Authority’s approval will be required for this purpose. The draught proposes allowing the construction of 300-foot-tall buildings on roads with widths of 60 feet or greater.
According to the news source, the LDA has decided to form a scrutiny committee that will refer area development cases to the governing body. The LDA director-general will chair the committee. Officials from the LDA Town Planning, Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency, Water and Sanitation Agency, and members of the Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry will be among its members.
