Lahore: According to a news published on 2-02-2023, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has instructed Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to map out a new sewage system for Gulberg in its Master Plan 2050.

As per the details, the WASA has taken the initiative to replace sewerage lines of the Main Market, Mini Market, Center Point, Ghalib Market, Gaddafi Stadium, and Firdous Market areas of Gulberg, Lahore, in the LDA Master Plan 2050. The project’s total cost is estimated to cost PKR 4.75 billion after including the temporary wastewater processing facility construction near Kalma Chowk.

The master plan also includes the construction of a permanent water treatment plant. The project is expected to be constructed on the 237 Kanal lands owed by WASA near Ring Road, which will process 2,000 cusecs of grey water daily. The sources indicate that the decision was taken by WASA, keeping the Central Business District (CBD) Downtown project and vertical buildings’ increased capacity in mind. The officials predict that after the master plan is fully implemented, it will be adequate until 2050.
