Islamabad: According to the latest news reports, the Secretary Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has officially confirmed the opening date of Gwadar International Airport. As per the reports, on 23rd March, PM Shahbaz Sharif will initiate the opening of the airport.

The development of the project was initiated in March 2019. A meeting was held under the supervision of Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning and Development. The reports say a test flight will soon be conducted at the new airport.
The test flight will predict the development and progress of the airport that has been under construction for the past 2 years. Moreover, both Pakistan and China are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony.

According to the CAA secretory, the allowance of New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA), apart from the non-developmental cost, is Rs.190 million. With the Chinese government’s help, the project’s projected cost is $230 million. Furthermore, Gwadar International Airport will be handling ATR up to 72, Airbus (A-300), Boeing (B-737) and Boeing (B-747) for both national and international routes.
