In 2021, PIA reduced operating losses from Rs 7 billion to Rs 680 million

According to Pakistan’s 2021 Economic Survey, Pakistan International Airlines earned Rs 97.8 billion in the financial year 2020-21.

The operating losses of the national airline were reduced from a stunning Rs 7 billion by Rs 680 million, according to a survey published the other day by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.

Like all airlines with losses caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, PIA too suffered as planned flight operations in most of the country and the world remained suspended, she said. PIA also experienced the loss of flight operations.

The national flag carrier nonetheless scheduled special flights to make Pakistanis stuck abroad easier. In 2020, the report showed that the number of aircraft operating for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) fell, while their routes grew by 81% to 74%.
