Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah announced that the residents and fishing community of the Baba and Bhit islands and Mubarak Village will get three floating jetties and passenger sheds by the end of the year, according to news sources.

The PKR 250 million initiative would improve the lives of island residents by improving connectivity to the main metropolis. The projects of the construction of bridges will be executed by the local government working under Local Government Minister Nasir Shah.

Similarly, the CM Sindh authorized PKR 600 million for sewage drainage, water supply, and brick roads on Shams Pir and Saulehabad’s twin islands. The chief minister also assured the fishing community members that the Board of Revenue would renew their villages’ leases that were about to expire.

In addition, he instructed Karachi Commissioner Naveed Shaikh to set up a vaccination centre for the fishermen who live on these remote islands.
