Karachi News: Karachi gets vertical parking facilities with the inauguration of Boulton Market developed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Mayor Karachi, opened the long-awaited parking facility on Sunday. This eases the traffic congestion in the city’s most vibrant commercial center.

Salman Abdullah Murad, elected representatives and members of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) attended the inauguration ceremony. A significant addition to Karachi’s urban infrastructure, the facility can accommodate over 200 cars and 250 motorcycles.

Karachi Gets Vertical Parking Boost as Boulton Market Facility Opens

Mayor Wahab told the media that the project has been in the works since 1976. A pending case in the Sindh High Court, which has been ongoing since 1986, has stalled initial efforts to build the parking structure. More than Rs100 million in revenue has been recovered from longstanding land ownership disputes as a result of the current administration’s efforts.

“This facility will provide much-needed relief to shoppers and traders in Boulton Market,” said Wahab. Our commitment to delivering long-delayed infrastructure projects is also reflected in this decision.”

A public-private partnership developed 25 of the office spaces in the plaza, while KMC managed the other 25. As Wahab pointed out, if the project had been resolved earlier, the city could have earned substantial revenue.

During his remarks, the mayor linked the project to a broader urban development agenda under the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He mentioned projects such as Empress Market parking upgrades and various road and bridge projects across the city.

Murtaza Wahab also inaugurated the Allama Qari Muslehuddin Siddiqui Garden in Khori Garden, later in the day. The mayor reaffirmed the city’s entitlement to its fair share of national resources. He urges federal and provincial institutions to continue their support, especially in financing major development projects.
