Lahore: According to news reports, Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Umer Shah Chattha presided over a meeting on January 1 to discuss the use of plastic in the construction of city roads.

According to reports, the district administration will launch a pilot project to build a one-kilometer stretch of plastic road. Dr. Waqas Cheema of Islamabad was invited by the district administration to give a presentation on the construction of plastic roads.
According to Dr. Cheema, eight different types of plastic will be used to build roads. Plastic will be cleaned and dried before being ground into powder for the aforementioned construction projects. The powder will then be mixed with charcoal and used in the road construction process.

Furthermore, it was revealed that a total of 5 tonnes of plastic will be used in the road’s construction. It was also reported that 5% of plastic and 95% of charcoal will be used in construction.
It is worth noting that the LDA announced earlier this week that the Ferozepur road would be rehabilitated using plastic. This will be the first plastic road built in Lahore.
