Rawalpindi: On 13th December Monday, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Muhammad Ali, instructed the officials to make Murree a Smoke-free zone to give visitors a healthy and clean environment.
A district spokesperson said that Murree is one of the best tourist spots and hill stations, which grasps visitors’ attention from all over Pakistan. By making Murree a tobacco-free zone reflecting Pakistan a smoke-free country.
The deputy commissioner instructed the relative authorities to take all the essential steps in cooperation with the Ministry of National Health to make the tourist resort smoke-free. Moreover, he said that all the recreational areas in Rawalpindi would also be made smoke-free and the first tobacco-free district.
According to the sources, the DC governed the officials to introduce “no smoking” signboards with a warning to strict action at the health centers, restaurants, cafés, sports stadiums, conference halls, hotels, government offices, court buildings, public transport vehicles, recreational areas, cinema halls, and other public places.
