Islamabad: According to a news source, on May 30, the World Economic Forum (WEF) announced that Pakistan’s tourism ranking improved by 6 points on the International Travel and Tourism Development index. The country is now ranked 83rd out of 117 countries in the 2021 edition of the index “Rebuilding for a Sustainable and Resilient Future.”

According to Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Managing Director Aftabur Rehman Rana, Pakistan was listed among the developing tourist markets due to improvements in infrastructure, facilities, ease of doing business, and hygiene in hotels and tourist lodges. He described the improvement as “substantial progress,” noting that both the federal and provincial governments had worked hard to improve the tourism industry.

It’s worth noting that in the previous three years, the government has launched a number of tourism development projects in the country, including special tourism zones and corridors.
Japan was ranked first in the International Travel and Tourism Development Index, followed by the United States, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Singapore, and Italy.
