Lahore: According to news reports, it was announced in a session held at Town Hall – chaired by Administrator Metropolitan Corporation & Deputy Commissioner Umer Sher Chattha – that road cuts in Lahore are now prohibited.

According to the decision’s details, development departments such as the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), the Traffic Engineering & Transport Planning Agency (TEPA), the Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA), and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) will be required to obtain the administrator’s permission before cutting roads.

The city administrator has prohibited private entities from cutting state-owned road infrastructure and has threatened legal action if violations occur. It was also stated that non-compliance would result in fines. The meeting also emphasized the importance of completing development schemes as soon as possible and made it clear that negligence in the installation of street lights and patchwork will not be tolerated.
