Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan approved the formation of a project management unit (PMU) to expedite work on the Gandhara Valley City project, news sources reported.
The decision was made during a board meeting of the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), held to examine the project’s development. During the meeting, the chief minister also approved renaming the Gandhara Valley project to the New Peshawar City Project.
According to sources, the PDA will advertise key programme management positions for the planned PMU to complete the hiring process as soon as possible. The New Peshawar City project, which would cover an area of 108,000 kanals, includes residential and commercial zones, as well as a media enclave and a provincial secretariat.
The participants were informed that the project’s land acquisition process has already begun and the master plan will be completed by April of next year.
Furthermore, the draft of PDA Private Housing Schemes (Management and Regulations) Rules, 2021 were also approved during the meeting. The bill will be introduced to the provincial legislature during the next session.
