According to the details revealed, the Punjab government intends to construct 10,000 low-cost houses in Lahore and other localities of the city under the project’s inaugural phase.

The executive has already identified chunks of land in Lahore’s Raiwind locality and 33 other tehsils for the project. Further, the monthly instalment amount has reportedly increased from PKR 7,000 to PKR 12,000.

According to sources, the province’s Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department (HUD & PHED) has taken the provincial government into confidence regarding the said increase in prices of NPHP units in Lahore.

The news report further stated that surge in prices is attributed to construction quality and change in project design.
