Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi, Captain Rtd. Mohammad Mehmood mentioned that the Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has approved the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project for the development phase.

He stated this while chairing a meeting that was held over the Rawalpindi Ring Road initiative at the Commissioner`s office. He added that all relevant EPA recommendations will be incorporated into the RRR project development to help address the prevailing air pollution in both cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
In addition to that, he stated that around 300, 000 saplings would also be planted along the Rawalpindi Ring Road. It was also noted in the meeting that the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) has revised the Motorway Interchange design to prevent damage to a shrine and a natural spring.

Participants were informed that the bridge will be built at the airport to preserve a natural water reservoir, in line with the project’s eco-friendly objectives. Mehmood stressed the need to establish an integrated traffic system for the Rawalpindi Ring Road project.
