Karachi News: The first segment of one of Karachi’s most anticipated expressways, the Malir Expressway, will be inaugurated on Tuesday, January 11th, by the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. According to the details, this project is initially 9.1 km long and runs from Korangi Causeway to Shah Faisal Colony.

The inaugural decision was made at the high-level meeting chaired by CM Sindh, where the statement was issued after the progress had been reviewed. Saeed Ghani, a prominent minister of Sindh, categorized the Malir Expressway as a gift to the people of Karachi PPP. This project aims to reduce the city’s ever-growing traffic congestion and travelling time. For instance, once completed, this project will reduce the time from Korangi to Airport to just 20 minutes.

The authorities have not permitted motorbikes and rickshaws on the Malir Expressway, so you cannot travel on either of them. Otherwise, you will be fined. Also, there will be fines for violating other traffic rules.

To travel on the Malir Expressway, you must pay Rs 100 for a car and Rs 200 for heavy vehicles, including buses, etc. Additionally, there shall be 5 to 7 patrolling police vehicles for your safety, and the CM also authorized the presence of a Rescue 1122 ambulance and fire brigade vehicle for all kinds of emergency situations.

Malir Expressway is the largest public-private partnership project in Sindh. It is a three-lane dual-carriageway with dedicated interchanges for all major residential and commercial areas along the specified route.
