Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) is determined to establish five underground rain harvesting tanks in the city to preserve groundwater.

This project will be established under the Annual Development Program (ADP) in the five parks of Rawalpindi. According to the sources, the five sites for the project include Allama Iqbal Park, Rawal Park, Pothohar Park, Liaquat Bagh and Commercial Market Children’s Park. The PHA has already prepared Project Concept -1 (PC-1).

The project work will start in the month of March and is expected to go to three months to complete. According to the source reported, the project’s goal is to save rainwater for the city’s future plantation and horticulture activities. The underground water storage tanks are were first built in Lahore to increase rainwater management and also use the water for the plantation and parks.
