Rawalpindi News: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi revealed an urban utility upgrade plan for the city. According to the authority, the comprehensive master plan will transform the old water supply and sewage system under the Punjab Development Program.

WASA Punjab Director General Tayyab Fareed and WASA Rawalpindi Managing Director Saleem Ashraf share the update on the plan. The notable highlight of the upgrade plan is the construction of Chirah Dam, which will add 28 million gallons of water per day to the city’s water supply.
WASA Rawalpindi Plans to Upgrade Urban Utility Infrastructure
According to the WASA officials, the plan includes the development of a modern water distribution network and water treatment plants. The network will provide easy and clean access to water to the residents.
Notably, only 40% of the city’s sewage system is working correctly. The agency is committed to expanding it to 100% coverage across the city to address the drainage issue.

WASA Rawalpindi will also construct water tanks at key locations to reduce surface runoff and enhance water retention. This is part of the agency’s rainwater management strategy.
