Islamabad: The long-awaited Karachi-Sukkur Motorway project is finally set to break ground in 2025, according to an announcement by the Federal Minister for Communications, Privatization, and Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan. The minister has directed authorities to expedite preparations for initiating this critical infrastructure project.

In a high-level meeting, Minister Aleem Khan stressed the strategic importance of the Karachi-Sukkur Motorway for enhancing Pakistan’s transportation network and driving economic growth. He also highlighted the need for collaboration with the Sindh government to ensure a comprehensive and practical approach to the project’s execution.

The motorway, which will originate from Karachi Port and connect seamlessly with the Sukkur Motorway, will complete the North-South Motorway network across Pakistan. Planned under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the project could also be fully funded by the government if private sector participation is not secured, ensuring timely completion.

Minister Aleem Khan emphasized the transformative potential of the Karachi-Sukkur Motorway in boosting Pakistan’s economy, particularly by streamlining the transportation of commercial goods. He estimated that the motorway could generate approximately PKR 3,000 billion in profits over 25 years, underscoring its significance for national development.
