Islamabad News: Islamabad experienced heavy monsoon rains, causing flooding in various areas. Shahida Rehmani, a member of the national assembly, blamed illegal housing societies along rivers for the floods. CDA has identified these illegal societies to raise awareness.

CDA has identified several real estate projects in Islamabad and classified them as illegal housing societies. This act was long overdue, as most investors were unaware of the status of different societies, including their NOC approvals. CDA-approved societies are considered a safe investment, whereas illegal societies pose a significant threat to both investors and the environment.

According to the Minister of State for Climate Change, Shizra Mansab Ali, there are more challenges than the illegal expansion of societies, while acknowledging the challenges caused by the illegal housing societies.
She said that the Government of Pakistan is serious about preventing floods and is taking steps to improve the floodwater storage facility and remove encroachments near the river.

According to the Minister of State for Climate Change, the Government of Pakistan is engaged with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and is going to launch the Recharge Pakistan Initiative. This project is for the people of Pakistan, emphasizing sustainable rainwater storage and groundwater recharge solutions to help mitigate flood impacts.
